More Bike Lanes

I love biking through New York. Manhattan’s a fairly small area, which means biking is often quicker than subways and taxis. After months of pedalling to work, I still get a rush biking through suits and tourists after work. My recent change of projects means I’ve been enjoying the ride home from Midtown, which takes me past the New York Public Library, Empire State Building, Flatiron Building and others, with snapshot views of life in different neighbourhoods along the way.

It was a nice feeling to reach Avenue A yesterday to find the street has been spraypainted with lines to mark out a future bike lane. It did a little to ease the pain of yesterdays decision to raise mass transit fares 25%.

Hey, great! I think they should create one (or a segregated bike lane) on 1st Avenue, because it’s so wide and a great way to get from your place to midtown quickly. I think I did 2nd to 42nd in 11 minutes that last day when meeting you for lunch.
